For Hoopsalytics Self-Scoring, Here’s How to Fix Red Flags
The Hoopsalytics basketball platform We-Score option has been an undoubtable success. We have a professional scorekeeping team based mostly in the Philippines and their experience and training is evident in the finished product of our scored games and the excellent reviews from our coaches and customers. Plus, with the overseas time off-set, we guarantee 12-hr. turnaround times at no extra cost. And without huge corporate overhead, we are able to pay our scorekeepers more than the other platforms, helping with stability and consistency.
Hoopsalytics has also created and installed built-in Quality Control (QC) for those few times when a mistake has been made, and the scorekeeper will need to address those red flags before submitting the game for approval.
Plus, all of our stats are tied to video, so it is quick and easy to find out if, for example, the wrong player has been credited with a rebound.
For our Hoopsalytics self-scoring teams and programs, here is a quick and easy lesson on how to clean up your red flags after you have finished scoring your games.
Self-scoring coaches may see the following red flags:
“Assist with no corresponding score” ;
“Steal with no corresponding turnover” ;
“Block with no corresponding missed shot” ;
“End period markers missing”
“Rebound with no corresponding shot”
“Player with event not in game”
“Unlikely Consecutive Shots by same team”
“Assist and made shot by same player”
More than X fouls for (player #)
“Should be DEFENSIVE Rebound”
“Should be OFFENSIVE Rebound”
“Turnover mismarked? Unexpected offensive action occurred after TO.”
“Substitution occurred without prior Stop Action event”
When you click on your red flags after you have finished scoring the game, the Hoopsalytics system will take you to Scoring Errors.
When you click the blue button for Fix, you’ll be linked directly to the first red flag in the Event Timeline.
Clicking on the event in the timeline.
Next, you will see an Edit Event box.
Typically an event is out of order in the timeline. You can see Video Time, and + and – buttons. By subtracting or adding fractions of a second to the Video Time (or more as needed), you can re-order the events so they happen correctly (a missed shot before a rebound occurs, for example).
Sometimes you’ll just need to add an event that the scorer missed. For example, if there’s a rebound without a shot flagged, you may have to add the shot event.
Other red flags may involve a ‘Player with event not in the game’. In that case, you can use the video timeline to go back and find or correct the substitution, and add the addition or correction to your event timeline.
Most of the red flags are self-explanatory. For coaches scoring your own games, once you fix your first red flag you will get the hang of it (and make double-sure the five players on the floor are correct).
The nice and easy part is clicking on the flag to get brought straight to the event, without having to scroll to find the flags. After you fix them, just click Done and the system will update and voila! No more red flags!
If any self-scoring coach ever needs personal attention to help fix red flags or get more information on self-scoring your games, please do not hesitate to reach out and we will be happy to assist.
